Why We Created Our Pure Silk Duvet and Pillow
Written by Rob, Founder of Petitcocon
When we first started working on bedding, I kept coming back to a simple question. What does comfortable sleep actually feel like for a child?
A lot of bedding feels heavy. Some of it traps heat. Some of it looks soft but does not feel natural once you start using it every day. You adjust it during the night. You kick it off. You pull it back. It never quite settles.
I did not want to make something that only works in one season. And I did not want to make something that feels good only at first touch. It had to work quietly, night after night.
That is where silk came in.
We chose pure silk not because it sounds luxurious, but because of how it behaves. It is light. It does not hold heat in the same way. It feels dry against the skin. It settles without pressing down. Over time, you notice it less, which is exactly the point.
For the duvet, we kept the structure simple but adaptable. A lighter 4.5 tog for warmer months. A slightly fuller 7 tog for spring and autumn. Used together, they become a winter duvet. You use what you need, when you need it.
The pillow follows a different logic. It is not just a smaller version of an adult pillow. It is lower, softer, and made to support a child’s natural posture without forcing it. For many children, this is their first pillow. It should feel like a natural step, not a change.
We did not design these products to stand out. We designed them to disappear into daily life. To be used without thinking. Washed, slept in, part of the routine.
There is no need for big claims. They are simply things that help your child sleep better. And if they do that quietly, over time, that is enough.
