It all began with a father reading the label on a "natural" baby blanket and finding very little that was natural about it.
For thirty years, our family has worked with silk. We know its sheen, its drape, its understated luxury. We also know its limits, especially in a nursery where most things end up in the wash.
Petitcocon developed a patent-pending blend that preserves what makes silk extraordinary while removing what makes it impractical. The result is a natural fabric that feels closer to the skin, breathes with the body, and washes like the cottons you already trust.

Pure silk is beautiful and fragile. Pure cotton is durable and ordinary. Our silk-cotton proprietary blend gives children the gentleness of one and parents the practicality of the other.
For skin new to the world
Newborn skin is around 30% thinner than adult skin and far more reactive. Our blend is naturally low-friction and free from finishes that irritate sensitive babies and children, including those prone to eczema.
A BODY LEARNING ITS OWN WARMTH
Babies cannot regulate their own temperature in the way adults do. Silk fibres respond to the body, holding warmth when it’s needed and releasing it when it isn’t.

THE BLEND
It's a fabric we developed over the course of years, woven from carefully selected silk and cotton fibres. The silk gives softness, sheen and natural temperature regulation. The cotton gives durability and everyday practicality. Together they make a fabric that feels closer to the skin than cotton alone, and washes more easily than pure silk.
Pure silk is beautiful but fragile, and rarely practical in a nursery. Pure cotton is durable but ordinary, and doesn't carry the same softness or temperature response. The blend keeps what makes silk extraordinary and removes what makes it difficult.
Yes. Our silk comes from suppliers our family has worked with for over thirty years, chosen for the quality of the fibre and the way it's produced.
SKIN, SLEEP AND SAFETY
Yes. Our blend is naturally low-friction and free of the harsh finishes often used in nursery textiles, making it gentle on sensitive skin, including skin prone to eczema.
Yes. Every piece is designed for newborn skin from the first day, and tested to the standards required for baby textiles in the UK and EU.
Silk fibres respond to the body, holding warmth in cooler air and releasing it in warmer air. The cotton in the blend supports breathability. Together, they help your baby stay at a more even temperature through the night.
Silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, mould and many common allergens, which makes our blend one of the gentler choices for sensitive babies.
CARE
Machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle. Tumble dry on a low setting. No dry cleaning. Full care instructions are on the label of every piece.
Yes. Our blend is soft from the first wash and gets softer with each subsequent wash. It's designed to live in your home, not be set aside.
Our hand-drawn prints are designed and printed to hold their colour through regular washing. With cool washes and low tumble drying, they'll keep their character for years.
DESIGN AND ORIGIN
A family of silk-makers weaves our fabric with over thirty years of craft behind them. Our prints are hand-drawn with a French sensibility, soft and poetic.
Yes. Every print, including the Mulberry Leaf, is drawn by hand for us and made only in our fabric.
GIFTING
Yes. You can add gift wrapping at checkout. Each piece is hand-wrapped in our signature paper, with a card if you'd like one.
