The Beginning of Petitcocon
What Does ‘Natural’ Really Mean?
The word is everywhere these days. It appears on labels, marketing campaigns and packaging, often without much explanation. We began Petitcocon with a simple question: what lies behind those claims?
We saw materials made from chemicals, processed through industrial solvents, yet described as “eco”. Fabrics labelled as bamboo fibre were, in truth, viscose with a botanical story. The more we looked, the clearer it became: many so-called natural products were not what they seemed.
This realisation is what led us here. Petitcocon did not start with a trend. It began with a decision to do better.
Returning to Something Honest
We didn’t want to mimic nature. We wanted to work with it.
From the beginning, our focus was on comfort, breathability and gentleness. We developed a unique blend of mulberry silk and organic cotton - a muslin that is soft without compromise. It feels light against the skin, helps regulate temperature, and allows the body to breathe naturally.
Our signature silk blended swaddles were born from this belief: that true softness comes not from imitation, but from integrity.
You can read more about how this fabric was developed in The Fabric, where we explain its construction and what makes it different.
Created for the Earliest Days
Petitcocon was made to wrap each child like a cocoon - gently, safely, and with care.
From the very first days, a newborn’s world is fragile. We thought deeply about what they need in those early moments: warmth that doesn’t overwhelm, softness that doesn’t irritate, and materials that carry no question marks.
Each item we make is designed to offer more than comfort. It offers reassurance - for both baby and parent.
The Quiet Strength of Silk
Silk has no need to prove itself. It has been cherished for centuries, not because it demands attention, but because it offers comfort with grace.
In muslin form, silk takes on a new lightness. It becomes breathable, soothing and naturally hypoallergenic - ideal for delicate skin. We chose silk not to be luxurious, but to be kind.
You can read more about its benefits in The Value of Silk , where we explain why this ancient fibre continues to hold such quiet strength.
The way we shape and present this fabric also matters. In The Design, we explore the inspiration behind our patterns and how they reflect our vision of gentle childhood.
This Is Only the Beginning
Our story starts with one question, but it doesn’t end there. As Petitcocon grows, we stay close to the reason we began - to create something honest.
We believe that what touches a child’s skin should be safe, simple and made with intention. That’s what we stand for, and it’s what every thread in our fabric represents.
This is the beginning.
We’re glad you’re here.
